The world – A Globe, a place to live having people from diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds, sharing some common beliefs. The world today is suffering from a great chaos than it used to be many decades ago. There is no doubt that technology is playing a vital role in the development of many sectors today, but at the same time, our Earth is getting more and more weak by each passing day.
In this era of rapid development, still there is a need to address some global issues like Poverty, Extreme Hunger, Gender Equality, Justice & Peace etc.
The United Nations has come across a set of 17 goals to eliminate these core issues along with some other issues. These goals are collectively known as the Sustainable Development Goals – The SDGs.
It is basically a 2030 Agenda which requires the efforts from everyone working in whatever capacity, to show their commitments towards the achievement of these goals. These are the 17 milestones that leads towards the achievement of a beautiful world of peace and harmony. The SDGs are not designed for any specific person to act on, but these are made for everyone. It should be our utmost duty as a global citizen to realize the importance of SDGs so we can achieve the pinnacles of glory and explore the new horizons.
UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon says, “Be a global citizen. Act with passion and compassion. Help us make this world safer and more sustainable today and for the generations that will follow us. That is our moral responsibility.”
