“We have seen a lot of damage done to the natural beauty of our mountains during the last few years by the same tourists who go there in search of beautiful places. The only way to solve this issue is to create awareness about how to travel responsibly in the fragile environment of our mountains” said Aftab Rana, President of STFP.
Many of you are planning to go to northern areas to spend your summer vacations. STFP invites you to help conserve the natural beauty of our mountainous areas by following 10 simple tips which will help you to “step gently” in the fragile mountain environment and make your visit joyful:-
- Doesn’t Litter
Litter ruins the natural beauty of our tourist’s spots and it is harmful to people and wildlife. Plan your visit to reduce rubbish. The golden principle is; carry out what you carry in.
- Keep Streams and Lakes Clean
Do not pollute the water of rivers, streams, and lakes. When cleaning or washing, take the water and wash well away from the water source.
- Take Care of Fires
Portable fuel stoves are less harmful to the environment and are more efficient than wood fires. Instead of cutting any tree or bushes make a little effort to plant some trees as your contribution to increase the forest cover.
- Camp carefully
during camping, Leave no trace of your visit and make sure you have not left behind any trash in and around the camping area.
- Respect Our Cultural Heritage
If you pass by any site of historical and spiritual significance, treat these places with consideration and respect.
- Enjoy your Visit
Enjoy your outdoor experience. Protect the environment for your own sake, for the sake of those who come after you and for the environment itself. In short, Take nothing but photos and leave nothing but footprints.
